Part X

A few months had passed since the attack on Naboo. The Jedi had returned to Coruscant. Kayla wasn't ready to take on her own padawan so she often helped Obi-Wan with Anakin's training exercises. Today though was not about training.

Amidala studied Kayla as she paced back in forth. "Kayla. Relax."

Kayla sighed. "Amidala, I can't help but be nervous."

"Kayla you need to get dressed. I don't think Obi-Wan would be pleased if you were late today."

Anakin watched his master with great amusement. He had never seen his master so nervous, well actually he really hadn't ever seen his master nervous. "Master. Calm yourself. I don't think Kayla would appreciate you having a nervous breakdown."

An hour later, Kayla stood in the middle of the courtyard wearing a simple white gown, her hair flowing down her back. Obi-Wan stood across from her dressed in simple white tunics. The only other people there were Sah-Jen, Anakin, Amidala, Mace and Yoda. They were there to witness the joyous occasion taking place on this day.

Kayla looked into Obi-Wan's eyes. He looked so handsome today.

"Obi-Wan, you changed my life the day you told me you loved me. My heart belongs to you and you alone. I felt connected to you the first time I saw you. At first I admired you for the hero you were, later to discover I loved the man. I couldn't keep my emotions in check around you and often lost control. When our connection began I felt my control returned. With you by my side I can accomplish anything. I love you, Obi-Wan. And I will live by this bond to the end of my days. "

"Kayla, I never thought anyone could touch me the way you have. You unchained my heart. I didn't know how to handle the feelings I had for you at first. I pushed you away because I was afraid I would get hurt. When I saw you injured my heart almost broke, when I kissed you confusion took over. When I thought I had lost you, it did break my heart. When you agreed to marry me, I felt complete. I love you, Kayla. And I will live by this bond to the end of my days."

Obi-Wan kissed Kayla. His love. His wife. He pulled away gently as their friends came up to congratulate them. Anakin kissed Kayla on the cheek and then gave Obi-Wan a quick hug.

"Happy you will be. Powerful Jedi you will have. Baby-sit I will not. Good food. Come, let's eat." Yoda stated and then wandered towards the refreshments.

Kayla and Obi-Wan looked at each other. "Did he just say we will have a child?" Obi-Wan mumbled.

"I think he did," Kayla replied turning to stare after Yoda.

"Kayla, you look so beautiful today." Sah-Jen said before giving her a kiss on the forehead. "Take care of her."

"I will, Master," Obi-Wan replied.

Sah-Jen decided to join Yoda and let Obi-Wan and Kayla be together. Of course Mace, Anakin and Amidala were still there with them.

"I believe you two haven't planned your honeymoon," Mace said.

"Huh?" the two murmured in unison.

"Since you have neglected to make arrangements I took the liberty and with Queen Amidala's help we have a nice little remote cottage on Naboo for you two."

"What?" Kayla asked.

"Well everyone needs a honeymoon, Kayla," Anakin added with a grin.

"So Anakin, when are you planning on asking Amidala to marry you?" Kayla questioned grinning wickedly.

Mace decided it would be a good time to join the other men for refreshments.

Anakin started to turn a little red. Obi-Wan looked at Kayla, shaking his head. "Kayla."

"Yes, my love."

"Please do not tease my padawan. He has enough troubles with finishing second to you in becoming a Knight."

Obi-Wan looked at Anakin grinning. Anakin's look of shock instantly changed as a smirk formed on his face. Amidala watched the exchange with great amusement. Her hands reached up to bring Anakin's face to hers and then kissed him gently.

Kayla followed suit by kissing Obi-Wan, his arms wrapping around her waist as she did so.

The next morning, Kayla awoke curled up in Obi-Wan's arms. She turned her head and kissed his shoulder. He murmured softly in his sleep. Kayla smiled and slowly slid out from his warm embrace only to be pulled back down.

"You're not getting away from me that easy," he said a wicked gleam in his eyes.

Kayla sighed as he pulled her to him and then kissed her passionately.

That afternoon they were headed to Naboo. Mace decided Anakin should travel to Naboo as well. Obi-Wan was looking forward to the three days he would have with Kayla, alone. Shortly after arriving on Naboo, Kayla and Obi-Wan were escorted to a shuttle to take them to their secluded hideaway.

Kayla and Obi-Wan had enjoyed the peaceful countryside of Naboo during their honeymoon, but today they must return to Theed.
"Kayla."
"Yes, my love."
He just realized how much he loved her calling him that. "Are you ready to go?"
She sighed and looked back at the small cottage. "Yes, I guess."
He walked back to her and took her hand in his and led her to the awaiting shuttle.
"Hi master. Kayla," Anakin said with a grin.
"Anakin?" Kayla questioned.
"I missed you. Thought I would save you from my master," he said still grinning.
Obi-Wan stared at his padawan and shook his head. Amidala greeted the trio upon their arrival at the palace.
"Anakin, I will miss you," she said before kissing him goodbye.
Anakin slowly broke the kiss. "I will miss you too."
Amidala looked at Obi-Wan and Kayla. "I hope the accommodations were to your liking," she said with a smile.
Anakin had already proceeded in dragging Kayla away leaving Obi-Wan and Amidala alone.
"So, what’s it like?" Anakin questioned.
"Huh? What?" Kayla said looking confused.
"You know," Anakin said with a grin, nudging her slightly.
Kayla slowly realized what he was asking and immediately turned bright red.
"Anakin!" She stood there looking at him in shock. "I can't believe you asked me that."
Anakin just stood there grinning at her waiting for his answer. She was not going to win this one.
Kayla looked over at Obi-Wan sending a plea for help through their bond.
Obi-Wan walked over to them. "Yes," he asked with a slight smile.
"Sweety, your padawan has too much free time to bother me, fix that, will you," she said batting her eyes at him.
Obi-Wan frowned at Anakin. "Will you please stop flirting with my wife?"
Anakin broke into laughter, while Kayla just proceeded to turn even redder. Obi-Wan pulled her to him and kissed her forehead.
Amidala joined them to bid them farewell. "Your ship is ready to leave."
The Jedi boarded the ship and were soon headed back to the Temple.

A year had passed since Obi-Wan and Kayla had married. Anakin and Obi-Wan were practicing lightsaber technique in the courtyard while Kayla watched. Kayla had something to tell Obi-Wan, something important. She decided to tell him tonight. Her thoughts were interrupted as Anakin came crashing towards her.

"Anakin, are you alright?"

Anakin looked at Kayla. "Of course I am alright," he said with a grin.

He studied her for a few moments longer a curious look on his face.

Obi-Wan came over to the pair. "Anakin, sorry about that."

"Well now I know not to do that again."

Obi-Wan helped Anakin off the ground. Kayla slowly rose from her sitting position. "Obi-Wan, I think you should go get cleaned up."

"Yes master," he said with a grin.

"You too, Anakin."

Anakin sighed before turning and heading to his quarters.

Kayla slowly walked to her and Obi-Wan's quarters. She wondered if Obi-Wan had discovered her little surprise through their connection. She entered their quarters and sat on the bed waiting for Obi-Wan to come out of the shower.

"Obi-Wan..."

"Kayla, do you have something you want to tell me?"

She took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant," she muttered softly.

Obi-Wan looked at her momentarily before collapsing on the bed beside her. "A...baby."

Kayla looked at her shocked husband and turned his head to face hers.

"Obi-Wan, are you okay."

"A baby," he said again this time pressing his hand on her belly. He then leaned in and kissed her gently.

Almost nine months have passed and Kayla is soon due to give birth. Obi-Wan's attentiveness has grown with each passing day. He asked the Council to for permission to stay with Kayla until the birth of their daughter. His request had been granted.
"Kayla, you should stay in bed. The healers say you need your rest," said Obi-Wan, a look of worry on his face.
Kayla sighed and went back to bed. "Okay. Okay, I'm going. I just want a glass of water."
"All you had to do was ask." He kissed her forehead and went to get her some water.
As he was bringing her the water the entry chime sounds. Obi-Wan handed Kayla the glass and then went to answer the door. The door slid up, slowly revealing Anakin standing in the hallway.
"Anakin, come in."
"Kayla, I will be back shortly." Obi-Wan says.
"Obi-Wan?" Kayla looked up at her husband inquisitively.
"Anakin, make sure she stays in bed," he said as he's walking out the door.
"Yes, master." Anakin grinned and turned to Kayla. He walked over to the bed and sat down next to her.
They spent some time catching up on events since they had last seen one another.
"Anakin..."
"What?" he questioned, a look of concern on his face.
"The...baby...she's coming."
Anakin quickly helped Kayla up and escorted her to the birthing facilities.
Obi-Wan arrived seconds after and rushed to Kayla's side.
"Kayla!" Obi-Wan exclaimed.
"I'm alright." Kayla said "Stay with me."
Anakin watches as they leave him in the waiting room. Several hours later, a nurse emerged from the delivery room to tell Anakin he could come in to see them now. Anakin had been waiting out in the corridor the entire time. He walked into the room where his master and friend were and looked down at the little girl his master was cradling so carefully.
"Anakin, I would like you to meet Moira."
Anakin smiled at Moira, then walked over to Kayla.
"She's beautiful, just like her mother," Anakin said grinning.
Kayla smiled up at him. "Thank you."
He leaned down and kissed Kayla on the forehead, then sat in the chair next to the bed. They talked for some time, before Obi-Wan walked over to Kayla and placed Moira in her mother's waiting arms.

THE END.
